BACKGROUND Synvase is based in the port of Rotterdam, Europe's main entrance of raw materials and the largest industrial complex in the Netherlands. The company was founded in 2005 by Jaap Vandehoek and Jelle Sernee, who both hold master's degrees in resource engineering and recycling metallurgy. Synvase has engaged successfully in business development, market analysis and process engineering in the secondary metal industry. However, Sernee and Vandehoek strongly believe that sustainable solutions are necessary in order for the sector to remain profitable. Therefore, Synvase now concentrates on converting innovative ideas into actual business activities.
